The Skies We’re Under
Nurse, author and Director of Born at the Right Time, Rachel Wright talks to fellow parents of people with disabilities and others in their community. With the power of story telling, laughter, swearing and useful information they create solace in knowing the warts and all truth of this off piste version of parenting. Whether a well seasoned parent, newbie, one of many practitioners supporting families or simply someone wanting to peak over the fence - you’re welcome to listen in. We are better together, whatever Skies We’re Under.

The data on female parent carers, shows paid work becomes an unattainable privilege as many have to leave the workforce. Today Rachel, Sarah and Lucy for Episode 15 of The Skies We’re Under are Sharon Foxwell and Leisa Miller, talking about the role that paid work plays in our wellbeing and how often women and workplaces are missing out.
They chat about:
the benefits of working
how work shapes the way we see ourselves and others see us
how work helps to preserve another version of ourselves beyond the ‘every-day Job-ness’ of being a parent
barriers that parents (especially mothers) face in the workplace
and the systems Sharon and Leisa to maintain the juggle
In addition, Lucy has had the world’s worst ‘pizza’, and Sarah is still reeling from ‘shouty corridor-conversations’.
You can hear more from Leisa on the SEN Mums Career Club.
